Disinfecting

  1. When cleaning up flood water, be sure to wear personal protection, respirator, gloves and splash goggles. Use a disinfectant a solution of 1 part household bleach mixed with 11 parts water. Another alternative is to 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide.
  2. When flood water has entered a building, brush scrubbing with a disinfectant is necessary so the solution enters all areas of contamination.
