Safety

Foremost, consider safety. The IICRC recommends consideration of the following:

  1. Structural Integrity - Before entering a building that has been flooded, check the structure for structural integrity. When in doubt, consult with a structural engineer.
  2. Ventilation - The movement and circulation of air discourges the growth. The AM3000 is an excellent solution to air movement.
  3. Electrical Hazards - Be sure to check and ensure that the circuit breaker has been turned off before entering a building which is still flooded. Power can be restored unannounced.
  4. Personal Protective Equipment - Wear protective clothing including boots with steel or fiberglass shanks along with a hard hat. Wear protective gloves and splash goggles before handling contaminated materials.
